Two Towers
Color and Grayscale versions of this 9 exposure HDR image
This Paul Cret design towers over the University of Texas campus. At 307 feet tall, this historic building is not only UT’s but one of Austin’s most distinguished landmarks.

Zombie Walk: The Video
I finally had a chance to complete my little video montage from the 4th Annual Texas Frightmare Weekend ZombieWalk. I combined some time-lapse with some video of little happenings at the pre-walk.
One of the things holding me up was that the video was missing something. Luckily that something landing in my inbox a few days ago. One of the members of Rigor Mortis, you know that rockin’...

Sweatshop is coming DVD in the UK?
I saw today that the horror film Sweatshop is coming DVD in the UK on May 9th. That’s a shame, since it still has yet to get a US DVD release date. If you don’t remember, Sweatshop is the film about some kids breaking into an abandoned factory to have a rave. Only thing is, someone is already using the place… The Beast. Blood and gore ensue.
This film was showcased last year at...

4th Annual Texas Frightmare Weekend ZombieWalk
This morning was the 4th Annual Texas Frightmare Weekend ZombieWalk. WOW! What a turn out. Moxley Manor did their usual good work on getting most everyone made up. I don’t know why people show up 15 minutes before a zombie walk begins and expect someone else to do their makeup effects… Only blood for you. Here are a few pics from the zombie walk. More are coming soon.
You can see the...

Great first day at TXFW
It’s off to a great start. Got a good pic of Roxy Vandiver and the Devil.
There was more to the day then just that, but that will have to wait for later.

The Woman
Tonight I got to experience Lucky McKee’s “The Woman.” If you haven’t heard about this film, that might be a good thing… cause, even though it’s really good, it’s gotten mixed press, mostly coming from an attendee at the premiere having a serious problem with the film. After seeing this video on YouTube, I was a little concerned, too. I didn’t need...

Texas Frightmare Weekend is this weekend!
This weekend I will be spending most of my time at Texas Frightmare Weekend, the Southwest’s Premier Horror Convention. This means for the next couple of days, most of my photos will be from the event. If you have a problem with Zombies, blood, gore, breasts, horror, fans, independent filmmakers, and celebrities, you might just want to stay away from my stream for the next couple of days....

Building the Living Village Time-Lapse
In March, I was contacted by the Hunt Institute to have the STAR Program create a promotional spot for their upcoming Engineering & Humanity Week. During the initial discussions, I mention doing a time-lapse of the building of the Living Village could be very interesting. They agreed.
After some technical difficulties, we had a solution. This turned out to be a great learning experience....

Lighting the Dome: A Time Lapse Short
The other night I stayed up late at work to capture the Lighting of the Dome: A Tribute to Dallas.
For 10 evenings, representing SMU’s 10 decades, Dallas Hall was illuminated in honor of the citizens of Dallas who generously provided the funds for SMU’s first building. Dallas Hall was awash in traditional red and blue. The display uses energy-efficient LED lighting.
It was quite a...

Evaporating Water in the North Texas Cold
Today, we had a high of only 19ºF in Allen, Texas (which is just north of Dallas). Inspired by the video of “Evaporating Water in -30C in Yellowknife, NWT” at youtube.com/watch?v=ZGjwe-BCfms, I thought I would try here with only 18º. I simply boiled water and threw it in the air where it mostly evaporated on contact with the air.
