BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir
I had the opportunity to visit the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Houston a couple of weeks ago. It was really spectacular. We had arrived just in time for the service and we’re invited to stay. The attendees were very welcoming and filled me in with some of the details of the temple.
This temple is the first traditional Hindu Mandir of stone and marble to be constructed in the United States. While the limestone came from Turkey and the marble from Itally, the structure was hand carved in India and then shipped to Texas and assembled.
I plan on going back to the BAPS Swami Narayan Temple some time but I will be taking a better lens.

We were shooting some new headshots for the office the other day and someone just had to pull out the Hulk mask.
The Old Fairview Water Tower
This iconic water tower was constructed in the 1960’s as part of the young Fairview, Texas. While no longer in service, this landmark was often used to direct people to Fairview. “You could see the water tower from miles away and that’s how you knew where Fairview was.” At the time of its construction, it served less than 400 residents.
Personally, I love the look of this old tower. It’s somewhat of a contradiction to the new Village at Fairview shopping center and the new Fairview Town Hall, but it’s a great reminder of the town’s past.

After a nice little storm in Allen, I was driving home to be greeted by this beautiful sunset. I just had to stop and take a few pics.

The T Motel and Your Next Horror Film
While on our way back from Houston this past weekend, I noticed this giant “T” on the other side of the road. I asked the wife if she would mind if we back tracked back and did a drive by.
“So you can take pictures?”
“Yep!”
She knows me so well.
We stop at the abandoned motel in this little town of Angus, Texas. Population 334. I get a few shots of the “T” and the motel and notice next door is an abandoned gas station. Old pumps, broken windows, and dirty restrooms. I’m thinking, this is great location for a horror film. While getting some shots of the gas station, I see the cars.
Recent model cars. . .
Clean cars. . .
Behind the motel…
I look at my wife. She sees them too. Okay, maybe it’s too much like from a horror film. Time to go…
Oh, and if you are interested in leasing it for your next horror film, call Robert Phipps with Blue Sky Country at 972-351-4710.

Great first day at TXFW
It’s off to a great start. Got a good pic of Roxy Vandiver and the Devil.
There was more to the day then just that, but that will have to wait for later.
